Scholarship Details
The MEXT Scholarship is a fully funded Japanese government program that supports international students pursuing undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral degrees at Japanese universities. It is offered through two tracks: the Embassy Track, where applicants apply through Japanese embassies in their home countries, and the University Track, where students apply directly to Japanese universities. Administered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, the scholarship aims to foster global academic exchange, strengthen international ties, and develop skilled professionals who contribute to both Japan and their home countries.
To be eligible for Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship, you need to meet the following criteria:
- Citizens of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan
- Between the ages of 17 and 25 for undergraduate students
- Under the age of 35 for research students
- Students who sat for the required examinations for their degree
